Katharsis

[Somber]

Underproduced, LP only, and ugly, ugly, ugly! German Black Metal extremism manifests in the grooves of this album as only a band like Katharsis can deliver. The sound is quintessential early 90s Black Metal with raw and throaty vocals, white noise guitars, and the incessant, halfway buried drum sound requisite to this brand of underground audio warfare. It's a gem- so few bands are executing this music legitimately these days, and the unfettered and "kathartic" nature of the songs bring to mind the best elements of "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" on one hand, and "Fallen Angel of Doom" on the other, particularly in the few ear-wrecking guitar solos featured. This isn't the kind of release one ruminates on in print for paragraph after paragraph; Katharsis is no-frills, cash-and-carry, and deadly as hell. I imagine that at this point the album is only readily available on the tape trading circuit, but seek it out in any case as it will bring back glorious memories of Black Metal's early days.
