Judas Iscariot
The Cold Earth Slept Below...
[Moribund]

This first JI-release is excessively grim and monotonous. The songs go on and on, even the shortest extends well over 5 minutes. At times the slowness and repetition of the chords is confusingly mesmerising and makes my head spin.

At times the music is comparable to Darkthrone, other times to Vlad Tepes. This album (or the whole production of the band) may not offer anything new technically or aesthetically, but does it need to? Just because something is not original, as in breaking new ground simply by adding some shit to old formula, does not mean it's a rip-off either. Akhenaten has his own style that probably irritates some people (who take themselves far too seriously) to begin with. Haha! Methinks writing a song called "Nietzsche" is brilliant.

The accompanying artwork is great. Though i personally don't agree with saying that Bertrand Russell is a genius.

"Hail NIHILISM!"
