Nargaroth
Rasluka Pt. II
[No Colours]

As always, Kanwulf keeps the music of Nargaroth mutating from release to release. Rasluka, Pt. II this time sees a much more unified approach than the Black Metal Ist Krieg album, but then it's an EP so that's somewhat understandable. The style harkens back to the best of the old Norwegian sound from 1991-1994 (just after Transilvanian Hunger's release but before it really caught on). After a short intro, we're served with three long tracks in the best Norse tradition. Even the main riff is slightly reminiscent of Transilvanian Hunger, but with a more epic, sweeping mood. There are many more mid-paced/upbeat sections that sound more controlled and build a triumphant, epic feeling. Listening to this EP, it's almost like the last eight years of Norwegian black metal never happened. Recommended to old-school Norse BM fans and fans of Nargaroth.

(Also, if you're wondering, there is a part I of Rasluka that's supposed to be released on vinyl only by Sombre Records. Rumors are that the release has been delayed for whatever reason, but in any case it's not out yet as I write this in July 2002 so don't feel like you missed out on getting anything.)
