I was a bit surprised to see these guys still around, and on a new label to boot. Still, some things never change, and Urgehal's total approach as being the 'next Darkthrone' is pretty much intact, though with perhaps a bit more old-school-thrash-isms than even their last album had. People who can't get enough of Total Death and Panzerfaust will love this EP with its churning undercurrent, strummed melodies, same melodic sense and vocal approach as later-era Darkthrone. Ripping covers of Kreator's "Ripping Corpse" and Sepultura's "Antichrist" round things out in nice fashion. Old school and black, if not totally original, so that gets points from me. But dammit, why do today's black metal band members have to start looking like vampiric 'heroin-chic' freaks?
