Moon In the Scorpio
[Nocturnal Arts]

This so-called "wagnerian black metal" outfit was at it's best in this debut album that in its synthwork resembles a bit an over-the-top version of Emperor's "In the Nightside Eclipse"; the passages are very orchestrated, rather majestic even if you feel aversion to the idea - and dark. Daemon's lyrics explore forgotten astral passages and hidden dimensions in time and space... not occult, but simple dark poetry of a Norwegian kind. I admit to having profoundly liked this back when it came out but time has worn it a bit thinner since the consecutive releases showed there having been not much to carry them forward to newer, more profound ways of executing this type of music.

A simple description of the actual music would be that they play epic Norwegian minimalist riffs on top of a weak drum-machine (avoiding an overtly industrial approach), screamed vocals and art-school-pianist performed synths taking the front seat on the orchestration.

btw: the Moon is never in the Scorpio, Sc's too low for that.
