Beherit
The Oath Of Black Blood
[Turbo/JL America]

Despite many people's opinion, this release in not an official BEHERIT album ! It was made around 1992 by the American label Turbo records, who released it without the band's permission. And Holocausto seemed really pissed off because of this album at the time...

It's a compilation of the band's second demo, "Demonomancy" (recorded in 1990) and their "Dawn of Satan's Millienium" advance EP (this EP was out on 1991 and I guess this pre-version is from 1990). The sound on both releases is very good ; this is a great bootleg for BEHERIT addicts, as many of you know BEHERIT releases usually sound like Hell... They were certainly influenced in their beginnings by the great production on MAYHEM's "Pure fucking armageddon" demo. But here, you can really listen to the songs, which is not a bad thing as BEHERIT tracks are incredibly brutal and deserve a good production to give all their sickness and wildness.

The first 6 songs are the second demo from the Finnish masters ("Demonomancy"), including for example "Grave Desecration", "Witchcraft" or "Goat worship", these famous BEHERIT tracks that reveal their intense fury. The advance EP contains the same tracks as the EP, except for "Dawn of Satan's Millennium", which is reduced here to its intro (about 20 seconds long), whereas on the EP it's about 4'30 long, but that's all. The tracks are better produced than on the demo (well, in fact they sound more "black metal" than the demo, but that's it). This is an essential CD to get for those who like really sick & ugly death/black metal, for those who are nostalgic of old black metal bands (TIAMAT, MAYHEM? ROTTING CHRIST, BLASPHEMY etc. etc.) and finally for BEHERIT fanatics. "Grind black necro metal" would be the best name for BEHERIT'S music... and it was FUCKING GREAT !
