This is a great demo from pre-Kreig band "Imperial." This demo reminds me a lot of the "Black Funeral" demo "Journey To Horizons Lost." Both have a very evocative atmosphere, which is supported and expanded by various elements; acoustic guitars placed far in the distance, the pattering of rain, etc. Neil does some good vocals for this, but as I haven't heard him sing on anything besides Veltmacht so I can't compare them to anything else. Some of the songs are pretty long, usually because of the aforementioned ambient elements finding their way into the main compositions. The music is really OK; the execution is absolutely terrible and the songs are plain and primitive, not offering any sort of originality. Does this make the demo a loss? Not necessarily. There are good elements and bad ones as well; what is lost in originality is regained in the expansive ambience of the music. I hear this is later released on The Black Plague by Kreig. A good one to track down.
