Nastrond/Fafnir
Split
[Wolfsangel]

Great split by two of the ancient Swenden's best. Although Nastrond certainly is still a somewhat interesting band, they simply do not compare with the likes of their older material, so infested with hatred and an impecable sense of melancholy. The name of this demo is "From A Black Funeral Coffin," and it represents a sound utterly absent and foriegn of the new Nastrond ( or is it Nastrond 666? ). Though not very original in a sense of the word ( production, material, execution, lyrical magik), I still believe that recognition should be declared, and a reccomendation put out.

Fafnir was a name I hadn't heard in a while; quite obviously considering they have to be one of the most little heard of groups in the scene. Better that way I suppose. Never the less, they certainly ruled the Swedish scene hands down, and in the process, produced some off the most magical demos I have heard. In fact, this cd contains both of them, the first being released August of 1993, while the second emerging in the winter of 94.

Although the time difference does play a role in shaping the outcome of these two tapes, and helps to further distinguish one from each other, it really only takes a few listens to see the simalarities. Both incorporate some dense and dark acoustic passages, precision drumming ( from Zathanel? ), and some genuinely thought out material that is second to none. Too add further, imagine my delight when I heard the familiar sound of the old Sorhin vocalist; ol' ...Occasius himself! What a treat huh?

Those who know Wolfsangel will realize that they don't meddle in the affairs of capitalistic scum whore- dogs who infiltrate the scene with their filth, and instead choose to limit their items so that only the true circle can enjoy. Consequently, this split was limited to 50 worldwide... making it a collectors item indeed. All I can say is that whatever you may end up paying for it, do!! It is well worth any price.
