Funeral Elegy is a three-piece Japanese black metal band that takes a lot of their musical cues from the old Norse scene. This demotape is three songs at just about 11 minutes, with about half of that being the third track, a cover of Burzum's "Key to the Gate". It's very well-done, faithful to the original, and a good indicator of what their two original songs are like. Despite the stylistic copying, they have a burst of passion and honesty that can't be denied and makes this band one to watch for in the future - another demo or two of evolution and they will be poised to create something truly great in its own right.
