The fact is that even an open minded becomes closed at some point, once it has made its decision.

I doubt the straw man you set up totally describes Derrick, or anyone, really. Metal does have a lot of keyboard warriors who are more concerned with “keeping up appearances” (i.e. staying true, raw, whatever) than substance, and so he generalized that attitude as “closed-minded”. Whoopdy-doo.

Why should he know better? He fronted ska/rock bands and joined Sepultura in 1997. Does ANUS endorse Soulfly and later Sepultura? Another great example of the hacks here trying to twist things their way. Personally I’d take Soulfly over absolutely anything Sepultura did in the ’80s.
