just download the uncompressed first press off rutracker, it’s still the best version.

  2. Hagel says:

I already have this album on CD.
But speaking of these remasters, is the Ride The Lightning one good?
I don’t have that one and I want to get it.

    1. The original is still the best but the new one sounds fine.

      1. Hagel says:

        Thanks, mate

Ride the Lighting will never “sound good” by audiophile standards, its problems are the way it was produced (plasticky super-compressed guitar hogging all the low end), not the way it was mastered. If you like the album you won’t be disappointed.

      1. Yeah and the treble timbre is awful. The only Metallica album that sounds really good is Kill ‘Em All.

        1. Massive Cunt says:

The shite production on MoP and RtL has always annoyed me and discouraged me from listening to those records.

        2. canadaspaceman says:

RTL sounded good. Was kind of shocked by how thin the guitars sounded.I also prefer the crunch of Kill Em All. Still, 80-90% of the material was great…
Their first 3 albums being different, having different studio productions, means what? Nothing maybe;, because half of Master of Puppets had shit songs, and the best sounding and grabtastic record ever made by them was with Newsted (Garage Days Re-revisted mini-LP).

Wow! An expensive waste of space celebrating the anniversary of an overrated 7.5/10 album! I gotta have this!

  4. Morbideathscream says:

Already have this on CD. It has good songs on this album like Battery and The Thing that Should Not Be, but I skip quite a few tracks on this album as well. Mediocre overall and horribly overrated. Kill ’em All and Ride The Lightning are the only Metallica albums that are consistently good all the way through. Don’t care for the remasters, I’ll just stick with the originals.
