When you travel through Germany, you encounter many cities and towns each with their own local brewery, and they all make beer slightly differently. Like Warsteiner, Wernesgrüner Pils Legende offers a light beer with a slight spicy malt flavor and relatively low sweetness.
Although this pilsner may not stand out as highly distinctive, or meet the qualifications for whatever top rankings they issue at the fancypants beer sites, it is available at a reasonable price at your local ALDI and is highly drinkable as an everyday beer, much as it is in Wernesgrun, DE.
We would have, back in the day, considered this an ideal beer for summer because it allows all-day moderate drinking without shattering your body, although it is probably not good for getting blind drunk before noon. It is perfect as the random beer you reach for after a long day however.

Brett: do you think your appreciation and understanding of music froze sometime in the mid 90s, or is it steadily becoming worse?
I enjoy lots of music and am open to anything. The biggest problem, IMHO, is that so much soundalike/thinkalike stuff is coming out that it is nearly impossible to find the few good ones.
I mean how much music do you really have the time to really listen to it and internalize it? I live for music and im missing so much of it because the stuff that rises to the top commands my attention and although I listen to a lot of punk, metal, industrial and electronic from their glory days, the majority of my listening tends to be stuff from the last decade or two. I just seek out good music and go through phases of more or less exploration and i don’t have this sense of disappointment with where music is going at all, or the communities producing it or anything. it is an endlessly fascinating and satisfying endeavor to connect to music and there will never be enough time to digest all of the good shit out there.
I see less good stuff and more variations on the past that will seem good for a short while but not endure.
Well im sure we would disagree on much that i consider good and some greats too, but nostalgia is always gonna exist as it slowly infects every burst of creativity and thats especially true of metal at this point since no charisma is required to participate and participation at a sufficient intensity is generally enough to earn fans.
But there are and always will be enough artists out there willing to face hard truths and so there is no shortage of worthy music, given the little time we actually have in life to listen.
