Texas gut-crushing occult death metal band Imprecation will unleash their split release with Blaspherian through Dark Descent records on August 20, 2014. This new release will give metalheads a chance to see how both bands have developed since their latest full-lengths, Satanae Tenebris Infinita and Infernal Warriors of Death respectively.

In addition, the band plans to release a 10″ of its “Jehovah Denied” demo on Rex Bagude records (Mexico) and Morbid Metal records in the US. This demo revealed the style of this band that evolved in the intervening years since its acclaimed 1995 collection of demos, Theurgia Goetia Summa.

The one upcoming release that I am looking forward to for reasons of artistic and spiritual fulfillment (plus maybe seconds of the Rigor Mortis album, but eh…) is right up there. Imprecation is simply legendary (though their best work was a compilation) and Satanae Tenebris was one of the finest works of metal to be released in our times. Blaspherian have not shown themselves to be equivalent, but they also seem to have the right spirit and ideas and perhaps the convergence of these two Texan hordes can lead to something greater than the sum of it parts.

I look forward to it eagerly and I think anyone who appreciates good metal should too. It may not measure up in this delicate time of trend over truth, but it may on the other hand tear through that papery garbage and touch the soul.

The Jehovah Denied release should also be interesting, though I still feel the band sort of lost the depth that gave us songs like Awakening of Majestic Darkness. I am not a pessimist, but these are not optimistic times, so only realism remains as the middle path; and the middle path is always best (as long as the middle, and by extension the extremes, are properly recognized).

Blaspherian is a bit better. More brutal tighter guttural sound!

    Both are B+

Imprecation are outstanding, I can’t wait to get my copy of this 7″ from Dark Descent. This is best thing out of that label. No other band recently releasing music has been able to transcript true atmosphere into their sound like Imprecation. They truly take you into the subterranean world, by weaving nightmares in damp chambers of doom. A++

This is going to be FANTASTIC.

The Phobocosm album should be great too.

Which other bands from Texas are good?

Averse Sefira play black metal out of Texas. They are a step above typical US black metal bands.
