Saint Arnold – Citrus Boom Imperial IPA (2025)

We try to review only the relevant around here and dismiss the bad with short reviews, but this may be the worst beer I have ever tasted. Short review: bitter IPA with pineapple and soap flavors and undertones of perfume that makes this more vomitous than the cheapest Pabst clone.

Although it avoids the boggy sweetness of most beers, this one substitutes the time of decomposition flavor that makes whitbiers disgusting and adds to it a wretched floral-fruit taste that should make you run to the hills but you bought it so you are going to drink it, even if it kills you.

It might. This beer is simply wretched. Saint Arnold got in early in Houston, a big town with a small man ego, and so it is untouchable and everyone praises it because the last ten articles did so, but this is just awful. You could do better with warm Milwaukees Bets drunk in the anus of a dead whale.

  1. Consumer Reports says:

I’ll never quite understand the appeal of imperial IPA’s. Maybe I’ve simply had poor luck in giving them a chance, but I can recall the ones I’ve consumed as tasting like Icehouse beer mixed with rancid orange juice, a bit of plastic jug vodka, and some coriander thrown in there for some reason. Gross.

For a higher ALC/VOL drink I’d rather reach for wine or maybe a cocktail. Otherwise to my mind 5-7% beer that doesn’t have a bunch of random shit added in is the way to go.
