Jan Kruitwagen Unleashes Experimental Ambient Black Metal

Breaking free from both the funderground and the hybridized emo-black subgenres, Jan Kruitwagen returns to the years of later Darkthrone and Burzum with an ambient offering that happens to use guitars called “DeathIsTheMasterOfThisWorld.”

This will not appeal to the war metal fanatics, nor the slap-bass progressive jazz fusion black late hardcore emo metal types, but it offers a unique view of the black metal spirit taking new forms:

Stop praising Burzum, it’s a disgrace to my country. Emo faggot band almost as bad as Gayhem.

My rule of thumb if something deviates to far off the early Slayer formula it cannot be good.

    1. Mayhem had that one good album, and a good live album with the same songs, and then lapsed into total irrelevance. Their first album is basically a demo.

Burzum on the other hand wrote real music. This is a marshmallow test for listeners. It is hard to deny the power of Slayer, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Sepultura, and other classics however.

There are two good songs on Chimera, and I think one on GDoW.

That ratio was good enough for ACDC and Motorhead.

        1. Life is complex. Perfect is the enemy of getting ‘er done (mission creep), good is the enemy of excellent, and anything created becomes a method that gets cloned by inferiors.

          1. Freya Helvig says:

Burzum wrote darkened pop music with guitars. Gayhem had a decent 7/10 debut album that I actually never listen to.

I don’t listen to objectively good music, I listen only to what my flesh appeals to because life is too short.

Cradle of Filth is better than your precious Bumzur, because they got more variety in their music, despite both being incredibly gay… much like this site.

There is nothing complex about Brrrzxum, it’s just a grift for you to insert your politicks into whenever you can like a goddamn parasite.

What in the hell are any of you talking about?

                1. Harold says:

                  Shit…

                  1. Freya Helvig says:

Darkthrone good, Emperor good (at least the first two albums) Gorgoroth Good…

                    The rest, questionable….

      2. maelstrrom says:

Best Mayhem is the “In Memorium” (spelled wrong lol) bootleg

    2. Hessian Murderer of Black Death says:

      Burzum is good, nigger

    3. GoreManiac says:

Mayhem is as hellish and vicious as ever.
      Much preferable to Burzum.

  2. Morbid Ejaculation says:

Tangerine Dream and Discharge made a baby

  3. Flying Kites says:

I wish Havohej would (could) produce something good.

    1. Too much time spent touring and dealing with life bullshit, is one guess. He also needs a rare beast to work with, a creative guitarist who does not mind minimalism and can avoid going into droning noise.

  4. iuz says:

“to the years of later Darkthrone”

what are you talking about. there is no ambient bullshit from the almighty darkthrone

    1. Metal has its own style of ambient. We did a radio show on that topic:

  5. Svmmoned says:

Besides Burzum it’s also reminiscent of something like those more ambiental tracks on Kingdom of Endless Darkness by Legion of Doom.
