Grindcore band Napalm Death have pulled out of Blastfest 2016 presumably due to the booking of the politically-incorrect to Barney Greenway’s white liberal socialist worldview black metal band Peste Noire. The Norwegian festival’s organizers should be commended for not catering to the socialist reactionaries by canning the less-mainstream artist. Napalm Death have once again proved themselves irrelevant since the Eighties.
As we see many have been speculating about on our page, you were right. Napalm Death has decided to cancel their show at Blastfest next year. We are about the music here, and we welcome everyone with pure intentions to come and have fun in Bergen, but we do respect NDs decision, and welcome them back for another year of course. More bands will be announced soon!

The band is different, the music is different, and the politics are different. With no nuclear threat scares and youth, its just bored people searching for an enemy to be “angry” about. This band is a merchandising front. Nazi punks fuck off is as much a fashion statement for them and their fans as it was to the pandering Dead Kennedys. A surrogate for a void of meaning. Nothing in the world changed with crappy lyrics written in self righteous anger. Enemies of the music business, yet churning out plastic products for an industry they detest? Very cute. Perhaps this move will be seen as “keeping it real” by their dwindling audience of Dillinger Escape Plan fans and community college slacktivists who will no doubt attend their Slutwalk Fest 2016 performance. I live only to see this band (and the world) burn. Long live eugenics programs and euthanasia.

The eugenics program I’m in favor of is the one where Napalm Death’s band members are beaten out of the gene pool (to death) by people with riot shields during a Black Lives Matter “protest”, Slutwalk, etc. We should work toward legalizing the rules from the movie The Purge so it happens on that first holiday. When I say “world burn”, I mean all Napalm Death from Harmony Corruption onward should be set ablaze in a pile. If the band members were also thrown into that burning pile, I believe humankind would improve. We need more earthquakes and tsunamis. They do a good job at getting rid of these types. Just look at their soul sisters in Nasum.

Fear, Emptiness, Despair was good but since then, I have not found a Napalm Death recording that survives repeated listens. Ironically, I think they will be remembered for their death metal influenced material more than the straight grind.

Pretty much. Would rather listen to Fear, Emptiness, Despair. There are good NSBM-ish bands like Absurd, Graveland, Darkthrone, etc. but what motivates them is more disdain for the 99% of humanity who cannot think than “racism”/”racialism” per se. They’re nationalist — well, so were most Romantic artists — and it’s time metal grew up and got over this. Napalm Death are just beer-bloated punks without a cause at this point, which is a shame, considering their alcoholic lifestyle killed Jesse Pintado as well as their later career. The most recent album was a snore. Sad, for such a legendary band.

I agree. It isn’t metal to cancel bands because of what they sing about or what they believe. Bands should be cancelled on terms of selling out or becoming irrelevant, like Napalm Death.
Napalm Death (or “Repulsion without the good parts,” as I like to call them) aren’t 1,000th the band that Peste Noire is.
Blood, Carbonized, Dead Infection and Disharmonic Orchestra are the grind bands to watch; Napalm Death is the tourist version, although they had a few good albums.
Repulsion and Terrorizer were also superior to napalm death. There’s also the early pungent stench albums.

Mdf need to follow suit, but that probably won’t happen. I like the early ND albums, but their self righteous overly leftist stance has always aggrevated me. Harmony corruption was their last worthwhile album and even that has not been at the top of my playlist. Ever since then they have pretty much been…irrelevant haha. Napalm Death is a few thousand times more important than that white trash “black” metal band.
This would be true if Napalm Death wasn’t complete shit for what is it now? Over two decades? Whatever crossbowman Famine and his band have made is much better than that crap. Besides, there are many much better grind bands than Napalm Death, Napalm Death just have the fortune of being the most well known. Well maybe Carcass is more well known, but most people know Carcass from their fluffy mellow death metal of Heartwork than their early albums.
How many old metal bands still make good records nowadays anyway? Napalm Death made 2 classics followed by a couple of decent ones. Peste Noire’s debut was pretty good but now are a joke (Famine seems to enjoy being a joke too).
What is the big deal? ND just decided not to play with a band whose politics they find questionable. It’s not like it’s a Mustaine situation where certain bands actually got booted.
It demonstrates pathetic mentality and inelegant character. Not a big deal, but it is what it is.
As a long time fan of Peste Noire I really don’t think any of the people in the comments have a clue of what their political mindset is, but at the same time I don’t see why it should matter. A weak move from ND, but I doubt their presence at the festival will be missed.
