New World Black Metal (NWBM) standouts Profanatica just dropped a new track, “Washed In The Blood Of The Lord,” from their forthcoming album Rotting Incarnation of God, due to be released October 11, 2019, on Season of Mist records.
This combines the ambient collage experimentation of previous EPs with the more driven fusion between Incantation style death metal, American black metal, and Swedish dark metal that served as the apex for this innovative and blasphemous band.
“Washed In The Blood Of The Lord” takes a rambling but epic approach reminiscent of Profanatitas de Domonatia in its first half, then detours through a citation from classic Gorgoroth into a slowly building ritual rhythm evocative of “Final Hour of Christ,” before concluding in its own voice.
This shows a track more promising that recent Profanatica/Havohej releases, which like those of many great bands, tend to alternate between aesthetic proof-of-concept and the finalized union between form and content, form having been standardized into a vocabulary on the previous release.
