Realm of Satan (2024)

Imagine an entire documentary dedicated to trolling its audience into considering that human drama is trivial, through the assertion of quirky human drama, in the context of a dark lord who exemplifies what terrifies normies.

This documentary tracks the lives and rituals of individual Satanists of the LaVeyian tradition who come together as the film goes on and their different individualistic pursuits become enmeshed in the need for group ritual. This is a comforting vision.

Its overall theme seems to be the rising of spirit above the constraints of mundane life, expressed through the ability of these individuals to embrace their own eccentricity and individual destinies. Perhaps not the most exciting film, still a satisfying watch better than most of the “art house” cinema set.

Part of me was hoping the guy was going to announce something like “The Olsen Twins!” while listing off all those names and entities. For all I know that happens later on in the documentary (no spoiler alerts please!).

A weird thing I’ve heard more than once from people who work in high finance is the number of c-suite guys and gals who engage in this type of thing at after hours office meetings. Or maybe that’s fairly common knowledge and I simply get out in the world even less than I realize.

    Satanists are fags.

Your god was literally a faggot pedophile who was arrested in the early morning hours with a naked boy whos dick was wrapped in gauze. Theres a reason the people demanded the romans execute the pederastic freak and its not because they were mad that he was god lmao

Whoever killed Jesus, John Lennon, JFK, and MLK deserves a medal. If it’s the same guy, two medals.

        Nice try, rabbi.

Kind of unrelated, but this seems like just as good of a place as any other to mention that the people over at Slayer’s website recently released an addition to their museum section in celebration of “Hell Awaits” turning 40:

This kind of Satanist is cringe. I’m with the Mayhem guy on this one

    Gimme a fucking break

Thanks though Brett now I have something stupid enough to watch with my bitch that’ll probably get a few laughs out of me.

Speaking of that, I watched the smashing machine and watching the rock complain about how his girlfriend isn’t trimming the cactus right and he wants it to look like Looney toons standing there all stiff and autistically frustrated is one of the funniest things I saw last week.

But you’d probably like Eden, I thought it was pretty good.

Religion is still a thing?? I guess reviewing IPA’s and tired shit like this is to make up for the fact there’s nothing left to review in the wasteland of tired music. Oh sure we got the sadistic reviews every now and then, but you might as well slam 99.9999% of the bands listed on M-A, and you’ll never finish! The herd’s won!

    1. Cerebus says:

Metal has gone the way of every other art movement.

There’s a ton of good music coming out in my opinion and like .2% of that is metal.

I’m going to bait Brett’s sensitive feelings: video-games like metal music are about escaping reallife bullshit… so when you’re trying to bleed politics into the very art that is trying to fight it, then my friend you are truly into deep anal fisting. People are sick of the woke shit inserted everywhere, but remember the same can be said with the “nazi” shit if we lived in different times.

I’ve been thoroughly checking out Burzum’s lyrics, at least when it was listenable, and it’s actually pretty clean. It’s mostly about fantasy, mysticism and some mythology stuff here and there. The dude kept his politics mostly out of the music, so it’s not full blown NSBM. I can’t say the same about Graveland beginning “Following the voice of blood” though… I can’t stand that pos album anyway, I’ll take Celtic Winter any day.

Same thing with leftist politics, I cut off most early 90’s speed-metal albums after they flirted with black/death sensibilities and started getting soft on us. The political/reallife crapiness factor is often shown in the quality of the music anyway. So write about politics all you want, just don’t bleed that into the fucking music, and you’ll be free from the retarded “NSBM” label.

Trying to ignore the guy stealing your wallet while you play Super Mario Bros is Metal?

      1. Surge of Anus says:

Listen little bro, if you think escape is a sin then stop asking stupid questions and self-delete already.

    2. Hessian Murderer of Black Death says:

The lyrics on Following the Voice of Blood are not political, unless you think killing Christians is political, and that’s fair enough to say, but I interpret it less as being about Christians as a political block, and more about Christianity itself, or even that which Christianity is a manifestation of, as a consuming fire destroying everything in its path, the land ahead of it a garden, the land behind it a wasteland, and after burning through an area, not staying to leave warmth and light, but moving on to the next forest, leaving behind only a hopeless darkness of spiritual emptiness and death.

And that, although not political, is not escapism. It’s real, like how philosophy and religion are real, like how the unfaltered loyalty to Chaos of those who hate the hopeless darkness that rules mankind, yet who have no hope of profane victory against it, but refuse to despair, is real: No hope, no surrender, no despair.

If you fail to see that, then you’re as dumb as a punkrocker.

  8. OrthoBat says:

Laveyan satanism, the linkin park of occultism, is still a thing? At any rate, aren’t O9A initiates like yourself usually dismissive of the laveyan types?
