Revenant — standing astride Havohej and Incantation — influenced early death metal history with its brainy, idiosyncratic view of the world and its affirmation of the downfall of Western civilization. We are fortunate to present here today a bootleg submitted by one of our users which was attained from Hank Veggian of Revenant a few years ago.
This recording comes from a soundboard during the Revenant tour of Europe in 1991, back in the glory days of death metal and black metal. The original files came to us in .WMA format and in this they remain in order to avoid the sonic artifacts of transcodes. It offers a glimpse into the history of death metal and one of its most unique acts.

“Asphyxiated Time”, and “Degeneration” are classic underground metal tunes.
The track list is different depending on the media player used and if it follows “track 1” , etc, or the actual numbered tracks.
Anyways, this is the GOOD kind of thrash meets death metal stuff, if you like early Sacrifice, early Deceased, early Kreator, Death (before they turned faggy, ie. after Spiritual Healing), 1980s Slayer, etc.

Prophecies used to get regular spins in my CD player about a decade ago. Need to play that album again. Recently listened to one of their demos on YouTube. Their demos are also supreme. This would be a good band to see reform and play mdf and possibly tour. Not likely, but look what happened with Demolition Hammer, so you never know.
Revenant is a good example of a band that had a unique sound without being pretentious.
Who the fuck uses WMA? I’ll have to wait until I get home to listen to this.
