Asphyx Slates Abomination Echoes Demo Re-Issue For June

Celebrating the death and yet afterlife inertia of death metal, foundational Dutch pummeling vitriolic death metal band Asphyx plans to re-issue its demos and early material on a 3-LP set called Abomination Echoes due out on Napalm Records on June 18, 2021.

According to the label, the re-issue will contain classic recordings in an updated format:

A deluxe 3LP set housed in luxurious casewrapped slipcase; including a 20 page booklet with lyrics, artwork by Ketola (Watain, Kaamos), introduction by Metalion (Slayer magazine), liner notes by the band, old flyer designs and more. The set also includes a previously unreleased track, “Priest of Mendes”.

It includes demos such as “Crush the Cenotaph,” the Slayer and Bolt Thrower inspired work later released as an EP that shows both Asphyx riff-craft at its best and strikingly similar songs, and later material like the 1991 promo cassette that showed the band at the apex of its creative power.

I never get tired of Asphyx. Their formula just works

  2. molestor says:

The sound of Asphyx is like a tank cruising over a hundred skulls. A good choppy riff with mid-paced drums can be more brutal than anything.
