Following our review, this album disappeared into a flurry of new releases, so I returned to give it a listen. Most will appreciate the classic 1990s guitar tone but the faithfulness to old school while having its own voice is in my view its most attractive trait.
Luckily I was able to catch up with Condemner guitarist PB outside a show here in the concrete wasteland and pick up a copy. The album has gone on sale via Bandcamp which makes it easier than ever to score a copy for the long-distance fan.
The old school never went away, but metal got flooded with the post-Pantera groove/tuffguy material, which as it always does quickly morphed into an emo version, and now we have no shortage of bands writing navel-gazing material while threatening to beat up their ex-girlfriend’s new squeezes at Dollar General.

Theres a lot of Incantation in this… maybe some Immolation too. Does this guy dig Blaspherion and Morpheus Descends too? Cool sort of abstract take on underwater death metal.
No poaching user names!
But this release sounds like Infester to me.
I enjoy all of those, but the only ones that were a direct influence for me were Blaspherian and, for a couple of riffs on this album, Immolation. Incantation influenced my demo more heavily, but more by osmosis, since a lot of the first songs I learned to play on guitar were from the first Incantation album, so a lot of my technique was picked up from that.
The real codex for it is Imprecation, first-album Darkthrone, Morbid Angel, and Sarcofago.
Morbid Angel and Imprecation, in that order, are the likely most important influences here.

Damn this album is more boring than prison. At least in prison you get raped. It’s like these guys took the whole narrative thing to heart and forgot to write engaging melodies rhythms vocals and well songs.
agree might as well throw on some devourment or something that actually pulls off knuckle dragging angry retard music and that album cover is fucking weak
Did everyone forget about Mortician and Baphomet? The latter is brilliant caveman death metal.
