Unmerciful’s Ravenous Impulse Out July 22nd

unmerciful ravenous cover

Unmerciful’s second album, Ravenous Impulse, of technical brutal death metal comes out on July 22nd on Unique Leader Records.

Ravenous Impulse is Unmerciful’s first new album in a decade and hopefully this represents a shift by Unique Leader back to their original forte of death metal in the brutal vein of New Yorkers Suffocation and Morpheus Descends. Unfortunately, the Deeds of Flesh-run label has been attempting to cash in on deathcore with horrible bands like Fallujah for years.

Here’s a tracklist from the Unique Leader press release:

Ravenous Impulse Track Listing:

  1. Unmerciful
  2. Abscission
  3. Ravenous Impulse
  4. Socihopathic Predation
  5. Kill Reflex
  6. Habitual Savagery
  7. Enduring Torture
  8. Kingdom Of Serpents
  9. Methodic Absolution

  1. This is fucking boring.
I’ll just keep Corrosion of Conformity on the playlist, thanks.

    Great….

  3. C.M. says:

Wow, it actually sounds like death metal. Those kicks are really obnoxious though, it’s like the producer hated the way drums sound.

    1. Rainer Weikusat says:

That’s just drums sounding close to the way they sound when not technically imporved (cuts both ways). Whole album recorded in this way explicitly because the drummer wanted it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsNp-wC8jCc. Which is now going to betray may exceptionally poor taste and soft spot for ancient, German thrash bands but … oh well … fuck it. Didn’t listen to this for a little over 20 years but I still like that. Another “girl vocalist”, BTW. The claustrophic oxdung lady is just bad.

      1. Good. Fuck triggers, quantization, and sample replacement.

  4. plop and smear says:

…but their first album sucked. Why would you think Unique Leader is changing? They’re still cashing in on Disavowed, Deprecated and all the other mediocre NYDM sound fanatics as they were over a decade ago.

    1. Mediocrity > deathcore

      1. plop and smear says:

        Different shit, same toilet.

      2. I blew my head off like Per Ohlin says:

Honestly, I’d rather take deathcore over mediocre death metal as blasphemous as that may sound.

  5. Johann says:

well this is something to look forward
