  1. Necrotitties says:

Brett, you should do an episode covering forgotten true classics like Unholy – From the Shadows.

    1. Metalheim says:

That is not a forgotten classic. It should be forgotten though. Too bad some hipsters tried to revive this like 10 years ago. And now you.

      1. I am more of an Ungod than Unholy guy even if Unholy has one of the best band names ever.

  2. PPT says:

This was great! You should DJ for us more often!

    1. Thank you for listening. Please spread this like herpes in a Bonnie Blue video.

These files are meant to be download, uploaded elsewhere, given to friends, emailed to the Pentagon and Vatican, etc.

  3. Hexagonal Parasite says:

On occasion, I use an app on my dreaded Apple “smartphone” known as Doordash to deliver food. Having received an order requiring me to stop by the local McDonald’s, I was stunned by a particularly hideous sight upon entering the store. In front of me was a remarkably overweight ~10 year old girl quite literally lounging on a *couch* inside of the store while staring at a tablet (likely another Apple product) and breathing through her agape mouth. Her parents seemed quite content with this manner of distraction. It’s as though I were witnessing an artist’s rendition of the most comically stereotypical image of American decadence imaginable. These children deserve better, but, alas, I imagine they shall raise their own children in a similar fashion.

What is this world coming to?

    1. Natural selection must return

      The sick must die

      Sodomize the weak!

      Be excellent to each other

  4. John Wildeman says:

Filled an old billiard with burley flake and enjoyed the tunes … thanks.

  5. Art Bell says:

Even though some – or maybe even most – readers of this site already know, there’s also the KCUF Radio Archives.

None of those were bad but I wouldn’t give any one of them a second listen.

    1. Then upload this show everywhere so others must suffer as you have. What is it like, posting from the cross?

  7. Silly Billy says:

Are there any essential Graveland albums after Following the Voice of Blood? Or was that their peak?

    1. I like Memory and Destiny and moments from the later albums, but Lord Wind seems to be the focus of the artist.

      1. Silly Billy says:

Thanks – I’ll check out Memory and Destiny.

On a similar note, and recommendations along the lines of Welowie by Gontyna Kry? It might be the best black metal album I’ve ever heard.

      2. Silly Billy says:

I listened to Memory and Destiny this morning, and I can see why you like it. It’s an album one can get lost in, similar to Summoning’s best work. I’ll have to explore more of their later output. The albums between Following the Voice of Blood and Memory and Destiny never clicked with me.

  8. Flying Kites says:

Oi! Stevens! : ) Place these on your Amerika podcasts page.

  9. Non Serviam says:

Nice selection – some i’d missed or forgotten about here. Will spread this like Chuck spread AIDS.

  10. I, Observer says:

Finally got around to checking this out and I must say, not bad. It’s tastefully blended to create a fairly seamless listening experience. If it isn’t too much of an imposition, are there any Desecresy and/or Rudra albums that you would recommend as essential listening? I see that Rudra didn’t make it in to the reviews, so I’m guessing they may not have any essential albums. Regardless, this was a highly enjoyable mix; well done.

    1. Desecresy: everything up through Towards Nebulae

Rudra: still working on that; the albums are uneven but have some great high points, like Runemagick.

Thank you for listening and the flattering comments! Radio (incl. podcasting) is a strange art.

      1. I, Observer says:

You’re welcome and thanks for the reply. I didn’t think Desecresy would have that many essential albums; WOW! Based on your recommendation, it seems like Desecresy is to death metal what Sammath is to black metal. DJing is sort of like bartending in that when it’s done properly, the listener/patron is rewarded with a memorable occasion. Whether it’s a superbly curated mixtape or a masterfully prepared Old Fashioned, the imbiber of both is reminded that life offers gratifying times to those who endeavor to experience them.

  11. Paul Riedls Moustache says:

I don’t keep up with modern metal releases as much these days, but that first Ascendency EP might be the best thing I’ve heard in some time — unless you have something even better to recommend Brett?

Thanks for DJing for us Brett — some great stuff here to explore.

    Cheers
