Metal Cosmos (#5)

metal cosmos radio show podcast #5

The time has come for us to accept that modernity has died. The notion of universal, absolute, and objective “truth” has died because we realize that other people simply “game” our symbols and manipulate us to destruction.

Instead we embrace the darkness of the ancients: ambiguity, cause-effect reasoning, and mystical symbolism. To that end, we have cooked up a radio show of ambient metal to show how old school metal was far ahead of the contemporary trash.

Hipsters now say metal needs shoegaze, indie, core, and other influences. The grim fact remains that we always had better versions of these things, but that most now have forgotten. Join me in remembering.

KCUF lives…thx maestro. Maybe you could do this sort of thing with more modern releases too? That would be cool.

    1. https://www.deathmetal.org/tag/metal-cosmos/ has more of that, although not yet enough. Cheers

  2. Hopeless Feast for Desperate Cannibal Voters says:

I don’t know what shoegaze is but it sounds dumb and i ain’t clicking on it.

  3. Steve says:

    Needs more Manowar.

    1. Freya Helvig says:

Needs more Opeth? Pantera? Post-Scream Death? These are the unholy trinity, nothing beats this shitstorm.

  4. Brad Stevens says:

    Needs more Motley Crue.

    1. Freya Helvig says:

Shout at the Devil and Theatre of Pain are actually good for what they are, similar to W.A.S.P – selftitled. About the only thing I can stomach from that particular genre, with maybe some Def Leppard thrown in. I don’t really listen to any of it on a serious level, but I could without getting pissed off.

  5. C_Moose says:

    needs zero fkn Manowar

    1. Flying Kites says:

Those who don’t like Man o’ War are afraid. They are afraid of themselves.

Cianide, Impetigo, and Blood are always great for slipping through a playlist.

  6. C_Moose says:

I’d rather listen to “Only Theatre of Pain” by Christian Death, as faggy & sex-obsessed as it is, than anything by MC.

    1. Nigerian Fister says:

No that’s even worse and it isn’t even metal, besides none of it matters since halfbaked rock is a waste of time in this place anyway when Brett can put on Carnage and Ledney cum. Might be repetitive, but that’s because there’s nothing else.

      1. Freya Helvig says:

No you’re all wrong, what we need is Mastodon. Where is that Mastodon Guy apologist anyway? We scared him off I guess.

I’ve actually decided to listen to a song or two by the band as I’ve never bothered to do so before because of the stupid name, and now I’m rethinking my unholy trinity statement – it’s worse than I thought and I’m making it a quaternity now that would give Pantera a run for its money.

Five fecal elephant rapes out of five minus.

Normie art is a lot like most Christopher Nolan movies; fake try-hard subtlety with an embarassing glorification of the obvious.

        1. Transiting Uranus says:

          Shitty Christopher Nolan movies mentioned.

        2. Mastodon Guy says:

Sorry I’m late. You sound like a poser. Mastodon has a great name and their first two records were made with your mother in mind. As she is a woolly mammoth of a beast and the band wanted to pay homage to her. :)

          1. Freya Helvig says:

You’re an NPC. A normie that is like kryptonite to us. Enjoy your victory, but remember that your crown is shit-stained.

  7. Doug says:

    Bloodgate

  8. Carthago delenda est says:

From an academic point of view, some examples of internal variation in hardcore punk music? I quite enjoy AF’s ‘Cause for alarm’ (almost a Carnivore album), I enjoyed Youth Defense League (okay, that’s skinhead rock / RAC more than hardcore: Nick Solares
is a true american, he will die fat) and that’s all I got in my dungeon. Need more.

  9. Thrash is better than Black or Death says:

    My playlist recently:
Leeches of Lore-I am the Raptor
3 inches of Blood-Destroy the Orcs
    Amethyst-Chasing Shadows
    Wolftooth-Blackbirds Call
    Loudness-S.D.I.
    The Atomic Bitchwax-Hey Alright
    The Reverend Horton Heat-Spooky Boots
    Trouble-The Tempter
    Vektor- Charging the Void
    The Desert Sessions
    Vinnie Vincent Invasion-Invasion
Zigoku Quartet-The Course of the Existence

    Damn I got good taste.

    1. Mastodon Guy says:

Good wish for a poser, for sure.
