Desecresy – The Secret of Death (2026)

Desecresy return with more keyboards and something closer to their original approach, which seems to finely-refined jazz technique applied to ambient death metal, creating a sense of free descent in an ocean cave of ambiguity.

Where the Incantation style bands created subterranean tunneling, Desecresy feels more ambiguous, both cosmic and liquid, since it relies heavily on offbeat rhythm riffing synced to the cadence of the song.

As before, they set up a verse-chorus loop and then redirect it in order to create a sensation of labyrinthine suspension of belief in a fixed reality. This immersive vision expands with the momentum of clash between riffs, conveying a vision of submersion and ascent.

  1. The Soup Nazi says:

It seems they ran out of steam and turned it into a duller version of the betterprevious albums. Not bad, but not great either.

  2. Nuclear Whore says:

Let’s see, I loved Desecresy but I had to cold storage the “Unveil in the abyss” record because it wasn’t very moving. Anyway thanks for the info! Desecresy Krypts Stench of Decay Galvanizer Ascended the best of Finland in the 21st century! And I’m sure I left some! Check Uranus project from Galvanizer members, IIRC: that’s some Xysma worship there!

    1. > has a chance to say “explore Uranus”

      > does not in fact say “explore Uranus”

      wtf

      1. Doug says:

“check” was still an honorable attempt.

        1. “Probe” would be asking too much eh

      2. Nuclear Whore says:

As a non native English speaker I was thinking about the joke but well… Listen to Uranus, Brett :D It sounds like Xysma’s “Yeah” :D

Perhaps the world would be a better place if all anuses sounded like Xysma’s “Yeah”

  3. Gay thug says:

I’m listening to Prophet of the Last Eclipse by Luca Turilli. Purely a nostalgia thing. Plus it rules.

  4. Salamander says:

Always found this band dull. If you remove all the lead noodling there’s next to no heft to the songs. And if that’s enough to make it impressive then you have to wonder why vocals dominating in metal gets such a bad rep on here. Wallpaper death metal as this site would call other bands with similar qualities.

    1. Freya Helvig says:

Okay normie, let me break it down. The key to metal is heaviness done right, this band, for the most part, gets it done, perhaps even better than Demigod itself.

The way to metal is what Mayhem did on their first album, understanding ambience, dumb as it sounds, but vital.

      1. …we should mention the first Black Sabbath album, the influence of wop horror movie soundtracks, and how those are entirely ripped from Bruckner and Respighi… maybe.

        GAS THE WOPS

        1. Freya Helvig says:

The best Wop movie of all time has to be True Romance 1993, written by Tarantino, but not directed… I mean “Sicilians were spawned by niggers” and “you look like the blonde frankenstein” are seriously classic lines, plus the music is good it makes you cry.

          Definitely gass the wops.

          1. And of course, it is about crime. I am told that every word in Italian is a synonym for some kind of crime, e.g. spaghetti means racketeering, linguine is shakedowns, and tortellini means register-skimming. In reality, Sicilians are only about 8% North African with substantially more Asiatic admixture, which is why they are third world. All “third world” really means is racially-mixed, like Mexico, Russia, Brazil, India, etc. and that usually means Caucasian-Denisovan crossovers.

            1. Freya Helvig says:

The Killer 1989 by John Woo, is lets say a cleaner version of True Romance, which it was clearly inspired by.

              A Hong Kong classic.

              1. See, we do not even “need” wops anymore.

                1. Freya Helvig says:

Just the wops? How limited, were it up to me I’d wipe off the entire plane, and start a new race all together or just enjoy the silence ala Depeche Mode. I’m not a nice lady whatsoever.

                2. Freya Helvig says:

Adding to that, check out the movie “The Trip” 2021, one of the better movies on netflix, it’s about a Norwegian guy trying to kill his Lady Gaga looking slut wife from Sweden in the middle of glorious nowhere. Captures the spirit of Norwegian isolationist misanthropy quite well with just the right amount of humor needed. Booze is involved too, so that’s another cherry on top.

            2. Smegatron says:

@Brett – what are your thoughts about the non-European Caucasians? Also gas?

              1. Non-European Caucasians would be Asiatic hybrids, if my math checks out. Keep somewhere far away. The gassing applies to the WOPS who are a subhuman race of pasta-eating criminals covered in grease and flies. TO THE OVENS

            3. Insane fagfest says:

You’re just being a right wing nutjob. Italy is no better or worse than any other part in this shitty world.

Pasta is just bread, tomato sauce and mince – oh god it must be the food for the end of the world food, run!

And don’t forget to deport anyone that wets your diapers into the “third world”.

              1. Italy is no better or worse than any other part in this shitty world.

                Muh equality, again.

                1. Insane fagfest says:

Yes, you psychopath, here we go again… if I suck the cum out of a white guy’s ass will it taste different if I suck it out of a black guy?

                  1. Gut microbiomes may differ. You will probably have to do matrix testing here, taking into account hybrids. Good luck.

          2. Gogoo says:

Does Maniac from 1980 classify as a wop movie? You know, the movie where the killer ices Tom Savini by unloading a shotgun from the car hood.

            1. Freya Helvig says:

Good movie, great ending, like a TV unfriendly version of Ghost.

I’d say the movie is about 50% to maybe 60% wop, given the people and overal vibe involved.

              1. So half your hubcaps are missing when you come out of the movie?

                1. Insane fagfest says:

Tom Savini is a legendary make up artist and not too bad of an actor and stuntman, so the only hubcaps missing are your own braincells that you smoked away, if you had any to begin with.

            2. No way “Joe Spinell” is not “Joe Spinelli.” (Spinelli is a type of granular, star-shaped pasta.)

      2. Salamander says:

Ambience is happenstance. If a metal band starts out with ambience as focus you get Blood Incantation. Or droning death muzak like Desecresy.

        1. Freya Helvig says:

I’ve learned to appreciate “dull”, I’m using Mayhem’s Dmds as the benchmark for underground metal because to a normal person the album is really just one constant sleepy riff with a beat and with some hungarian asshole on vocals that sounds like Tim Curry’s Pennywise the clown iteration. Immortal’s early albums are similar.

Which is good news, because we need to break the kumbaya “let’s all hold hands in agreement” type of spirit that nullifies real creativity.

          1. High Speed Reality Denial says:

Hearing something and wishing it was nothing is almost as embarrassing as hearing nothing and pretending it’s something.

            Pick your pretense.

            1. Freya Helvig says:

Good, keep going, I want people to hate what I like.

I know that Brett has been paradoxically promoting what should not be promoted, but perhaps with the intent it reaches the right the kind of people, and that cannot be everyone.

          2. Begging your pardon, but in my view, what nullifies creativity is rejection of reality as a whole. People imitate each other for the reward of social attention, money, or both. The quest is to express something of relevance in art, and DMDS does that quite well despite being a simple album. Its inspiration was The Awakening IMHO.

            1. Freya Helvig says:

No friction, blood, fire and death, no creativity. That’s why Gen Z’s are useless, and they even have shit tastes in video-games like minecraft and fortnite; That’s all they can come up with, when Steam is an ocean of great indie titles if you know where to look.

              1. With Fear I Kiss the Burning Anus says:

Modern “gaymers” are just cinemafags looking for mUh deEp sTorY “games” with 0 friction. What do you consider good games?

I am not into RPGs anymore, but very respectable list. Will you be playing the Gothic remake?

                    1. Freya Helvig says:

Why the hell not? I’ll even throw in Fatekeeper and Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call.

                  2. Freya Helvig says:

Adding to that, this dude looks like my husband. Dumber though, but I like the energy nonetheless, trying to make a goddess by adorning the Amazon class.

Nothing from Gayhem should be used as a “benchmark” for anything.

            1. DMDS is revered for good reasons. Of course, it was mostly authored by people who were not officially in Mayhem at the time of its release, but it’s still good and I’m about to listen to it for the first time in a decade because of your caterwauling.

              1. With Fear I Kiss the Burning Anus says:

I am so sorry. Could I caterwaul you into listening to Under a Funeral Moon or Pure Holocaust for the 1000th time instead?

                1. Freya Helvig says:

Black metal needs become both dumber and smarter at the same time, because the balance is completely off right now. It’s pretentious.

Take this cool pop song, it’s about repeating drama properly, and that’s what made Transilvanian Hunger great – more and more motif without adding or detracting useless bullshit. Just upping the value of your what you express from your heart.

                  1. 666 says:

Contemporary metal lacks sincerity more than anything. Most of these wimps should be in punk or electronic bands.

              2. Cynical says:

It’s worth noting that the authorship is sometimes disputed; Varg in a post-jail interview claims that Euronymous wrote more of that album than he’s generally given credit for, and that it’s mostly his brainchild with a few critical contributions from others rather than the popularly assumed “Euronymous was the curator and administrator” model.

                1. Maybe, but whether these were direct edits or influences can matter quite a bit; something upgraded that band from “Deathcrush”-era material. Often coordinated smaller changes have a bigger effect than people realize.

            2. 666 says:

              DMDS is perfect

    2. With Fear I Kiss the Burning Anus says:

Been trying to get in this band lately and so far I largely agree, complete Wallpaper Musak.

  5. Steve says:

I think this is a really impressive release. Thanks to Desecresy and DMU for keeping the flame alive.
