Imprecation / Black Blood Invocation Release Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague

Texas doom-death occultists Imprecation join forces with war metal vanguard Black Blood Invocation to release Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague, a split album with four tracks from each band in a style informed both by the classics of underground metal and hermetic Luciferianism.

If recent past Imprecation work offers a gauge, this newer material will feature more of the strange fusion of Misfits-style melody with mid-paced ritualistic metal interrupted by barrages of pummeling riffs. Black Blood Invocation likely continue in their primitivist, violent style reminiscent of Von and Hellhammer doing early Terrorizer.

    Tracklist

  1. Imprecation – A World Consumed in Fire (4:08)
  2. Imprecation – Swine Full of Maggots (4:35)
  3. Imprecation – Emperor of Infernal Spirits (5:07)
  4. Imprecation – Sigil of Lucifer (1:28)
  5. Black Blood Invocation – Congregation of Profane Ascension (1:25)
  6. Black Blood Invocation – Evocation of the Alla Xul (6:21)
  7. Black Blood Invocation – The Burning Effigy of Moloch (5:51)
  8. Black Blood Invocation – Atazoth Nexion (6:39)

The label released the following statement:

HELTER SKELTER PRODUCTIONS (distributed & marketed by REGAIN RECORDS) is proud to present Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague, a special split album between America’s IMPRECATION and Greece’s BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

Truly titled, Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague brings together two of the most bestial death metal cults of the modern era. IMPRECATION, of course, fought the good fight for most of the ‘90s, crafting a handful of now-classic EPs and demos that displayed their vision as being decades ahead of the game. Reinvigorated in 2009, IMPRECATION have only continued to get better and better, belying their veteran status as band: most their age wimp out, but not these Satanic Texas warlords! Here, they deliver two exclusive tracks (plus mystical outro) which hammer and slice, doom and dredge, whipping forth a maniacal warlust that’s as black and bewitching as it comes. Of especial note is a rerecording of the 1994 track “Emperor of Infernal Spirits,” which features guest vocals by Seth Decay of Ritual Decay and Morbus 666.

Not to be outdone, BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION likewise deliver three exclusive tracks (plus atmosphere-setting intro) that continue the malevolent momentum created by their preceding EP and demo. As such, their militantly pulsing blackgrind purports a uniquely Greek aspect, goatly and ominous and drawing down the moon. While influences of Archgoat and VON were indeed clear before, now are the duo setting upon more individualist ground, tantalizing the devout for their inevitable full-length debut.

With always classic artwork courtesy of the master Chris Moyen, Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague is a gutsfucking, middle-fingered statement of intent from the allied forces of IMPRECATION and BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION!

    1. Cynical says:

They covered the release of the lead single. They hadn’t covered the whole release yet, because it just released today.

    2. It’s good enough to cover twice.

        You are of subhuman intelligence.
