Death metal thrived from 1985 to 1994. The early material of the proto-underground nature — Sodom, Master, Possessed, Bathory, Hellhammer, Slayer — solidified its metal/hardcore roots into something much more expressive by 1985, and then it was simply a matter of creating the classics.

Apparently Facebook, after shutting down my account for suspicion of “impersonation” a decade ago, has now decided to ban our page. The current framework of beliefs by which modern people live is shaking. Eighty years has revealed only the weakness at is core. Sea change is coming.

Almost all revolutions begin with the idea that what you have known is wrong, and an alternative exists that although unproven will bring about a better world. The hangup is the word “better” — does it mean pragmatically (short term) better, realistically (long term) better, morally better, more profitable, more individualistic — and this detail bedevils the most adventurous of plans.

It does not matter what I write here because people no longer read articles. They read headlines and summaries, then skim for embedded media. Television finally took over through the computer. As usual, the voters/consumers are their own worst enemy, choosing the dumbest format they can find.

The remix of The Coming of Chaos addresses production difficulties with a late release by a classic band, but struggles to overcome the hybrid of black metal and speed metal that was in vogue for a couple years but ultimately muddles the amazing composition within this album.

When this site was started, back as an FTP server growing out of USENET and before that a collection of BBS g-philes, the paucity of information about underground metal was an issue. Now we have too much underground metal and too much information about it, almost all of it bad.

Wheat beers can be hit or miss. When they hit, they have a flavor like fresh bread with a twist of lemon, if you can imagine such a thing; when they fail, they taste like American grocery store bread, basically sweetness with a hint of grain in the background.

No one doubts that hipsters must die, but first we should thank them for bestowing upon us the resurgence of India Pale Ales. These get beer past the soft drink phase by reducing sweetness and instead dialing up the slightly spicy hops bitterness for a cleanly refreshing beer.

We write; you complain; everyone else ignores us. Later on, the world catches up, and everyone hides how they read it here first. We call the metal trends by looking at reality instead of social influences, and this makes people feel like the small puny slave power bottoms they really are.
