Italian technical death metal band Kronos have posted a new song from their next album, Arisen New Era, whose release is approximately one month away (July 24).
As samples of the studio recording are readily available everywhere, here is a 2013 live recording of the same, displaying both the technical competence of the band as well as the live power of the material!
Technically-inclined death metal band Kronos have made an impression in the past by puting out solid although not particularly impressive albums. Let’s revise this wording. They’ve actually impressed the mainstream because those are easily impressed by anything with an appearance of badassery or complicatedness. The albums are solid because they are musically sound, yet the limitations of Kronos music can be noticed in a reluctance to go beyond a certain threshhold — theirs has been a timid death metal that has played it safe. In doing so they’ve remained more convincing than most bands playing in this style, but perhaps it is time they stepped up. Their new album will tell us…
Unique Leader Records confirms July 24th as the date French death metal band, Kronos, will release Arisen New Era. Recorded, mixed and mastered by David Potvin at Dome Studios (Lyzanxia, Arcania, Under The Abyss etc.) in Angers, France, the band’s latest album features nine tracks of technical death metal in the “brutal” vein adorned in the distinctive cover art of Pierre Alain (Withering Soul, Silentlie, Cyrax etc.).
