Morbid Angel Only Playing Steve Tucker Era Material on Upcoming Tour

Current Morbid Angel vocalist Steve Tucker claimed in an interview with the Orlando Weekly that Morbid Angel will only be playing material that he originally recorded in the studio on their upcoming tour with Suffocation. Sole original member Trey Azagthoth will not be playing any of the band’s best material off of Abominations of Desolation.

You and Trey have been working on a new studio album, Morbid Angel’s first in six years. Will the new music be featured in the live set?

Probably one or two new songs; the album’s almost done, but we don’t want to put out too much with YouTube putting it up the next day. The setlist will be different, too – in the past, we’ve covered all of Morbid Angel’s discography, but this time we went with the discography between Trey and I. I’m really excited about the fact that every song we play is a song I was a part of. There are some Morbid Angel classics that aren’t there, but we made our own classics.

Morbid Angel Recording New Album

Morbid Angel (Trey Azagthoth and Steve Tucker) have finally found a new drummer: Scott Fuller of Annihilated and Abysmal Dawn. Instead of Morrisound, the band is currently recording a new album with Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) at his Mana Studios and the drum tracks have been laid down. Expect digital, plastic sounding sterility.

Morbid Angel Promise to “Ascend Once More”

Morbid Angel logo

Morbid Angel (Trey Azagthoth and Steve Tucker) released a crazy press release on their Facebook page yesterday claiming to be “working on some super Inspired Over The Top Shit” and stating that they have signed a contract with German label UDR Music. Despite needing a drummer, the band promises to strike “a consistent chord of dark, dissonant death-metal empathy with their loyal fanbase.” Hopefully Trey and Steve’s new collaboration will be more Formulas Fatal to the Flesh than Gateways to Annihilation.

Erik Rutan and Steve Tucker Issue Warfather Album Studio Update

warfather_band

Warfather has issued a studio update on the progress of the band’s as-of-yet-untitled sophomore album. Rhythm guitars, drums and bass tracks are completed. Vocals should be finished soon.

Warfather ‘s Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) had this to say about the album’s progress:

“Working with Erik Rutan on this record is both an honor and an amazing experience. Erik knows death metal better than any producer or engineer on this planet! He knows how to get the best performance out of everyone who steps through Mana Recording studios’ doors. A true professional and a Legend!”

Producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) added:

“Recording with Steve and the guys on the new Warfather album has been fantastic! It has been a blast to be working on this monster album in the studio once again with my great friend and former band mate. The songs are heavy as hell and just outright awesome. We have some great tones and performances and I’m really excited about the whole process. We have just finished all the drums, bass and rhythm guitars. The massive foundation has been formulated. Now it is time to start vocals and solos and onward to the mix!”
