Horror Pain Gore Death – Death Metal Power From Beyond (2021)

In addition to tape trading, compilation albums back in the day allowed a label to sell you one track from each of its most promising bands for a few dollars total, making them both a good way to find new bands and a cross between the mix tape and a radio show when you wanted varied listening.

Adramelech

As a related project to Demigod, the Finnish death metal band Adramelech aimed to create dark tunneling atmospheres of morally ambiguous and unstable spaces in order to snap people out of their bourgeois socializing and trend-following.

Laceration – Demise (2021)

Possessed created songs using death metal riffs in speed metal frameworks, but Laceration follows Immolation and Demigod in using speed metal riffs within atmospheric death metal songs, allowing the momentum of the song to merge with the mood, in which the different riffs tell a story through complement and contrast.

North From Here: The Story of Sentenced by Matti Rieki

Sentenced burst into existence like a moment of drunken exuberance but then vanished just as quickly, appearing with Shadows of the Past in 1991 to ride the Demigod and Darkthrone style of dark mid-paced death metal to its conclusions, then peaked with the magnificent North From Here two years later, but by the next album, became some kind of gothic hard rock that drove away death metal fans in droves.
